Abbots & Kinney is both a very good bakery, a good place for coffee and a good place for breakfast or lunch in the centre of Adelaide.
The café is very popular especially with workers from nearby office buildings dropping in to get their morning fix of caffeine.
There is a large shared wooden table inside (there's lots of wood inside), a similar table outside and some bench space also available. There is a reasonably comprehensive menu available with sufficient variety to make is easy to choose depending on your appetite. The options range from light snacks such as good croissants, to filled croissants, to full breakfasts.
On our recent visit we tried the boiled eggs with toast soldiers (called Soldier On) and the baked beans, chorizo and poached eggs (called Beans, Beansm The Musical Fruit). The first dish was nicely presented with the only quibble being that the eggs were slightly overdone making the joy of dipping the soldiers into the runny egg yolk unachievable. The beans, however, were very tasty with the chorizo adding a spicy element and the poached eggs acting as a sauce for the beans. Toast as supplied on the side.
We quite like the atmosphere and the service here and the coffee is good without being amazing.
