Sunny's is a warm, welcoming and extremely busy venue that serves interesting food and local natural wines. The pizzas are better than most and the non-pizza dishes are well-worth trying.
You will find Sunny's down a laneway, opposite an unremarkable car park in central Adelaide. The minute you walk in the door, however, you will receive a warm greeting and a smile from the very professional staff who are anxious to please. They seem to manage the crowds with effortless ease.
The menu and the drinks list is precise and perfect for the venue. They avoid listing dozens of different toppings to concentrate on flavour and suitabilility for the wood-fired treatment the pizzas benefit from.
The non-pizza dishes are heavily vegetable-based and the tomato salad and cucumber dishes that we tried were very good. The pizza had good dough and a simple topping with a tomato-based sauce and melted cheese which was satisfying.
The small selection of wines on the night we visited was like a roll-call of local natural wine stars such as Manon and Gareth Belton from the Basket Ranges as well as the delicious rose from Yeti and the Coconut.
