La Nautique is a welcome addition to the Narbonne dining scene. The large space can cope with many diners, the outside, but shaded, seating is perfect for summer dining, the proximity to the Etang de Bages provides some cooling breezes, but most of all the food is tasty and based on excellent ingredients and the wine offerings are very interesting with lots of natural and no-sulphur bottles available.
If you put the address into Google you are likely to end up outside a big fence near a big white building with a painted blue sign saying "Pavillon Nautique". Keep driving about 100 metres and there will be a road on the right which you can use to access the car park right outside the restaurant.
You will notice a bar and kitchen in a converted shipping container sitting outside the restaurant proper and this is where they will find you a table, but it is a good idea to book in summer as it gets very busy at times.
The daily dishes are chalked on a large board that is placed close by as you decide what to order. We chose some grilled padron peppers, some cod fritters, a plate of deep fried "joels" which is a local small fish that you eat whole and, we were delighted to see that you can order a tin of the fabulous Nardin anchovies. These are a star product and shows that the restaurant is committed to serving the best produce available.
All of these dishes were a great start to the meal.
