Fragments is an essential place to have on your itinerary for breakfast, lunch and excellent coffee in Paris. It is easy to find just near the Chemin vert metro station in the 3rd arrondissement.
There is a blackboard menu on the wall behind the impressive stack of vinyl records. We ordered avocado on toast and the house-made granola with yoghurt and seasonal fruits. Here they outdid most Australian versions of avocado on toast thanks to the quality of the avocados and the bread. And, finally, we understand kiwi fruit. The first time they have had an appealing texture and flavour. Quite a revelatory moment. Part of a dish which also had house-made granola, excellent yoghurt (essential after a long flight to feed your jet lagged, confused microbes) and pears.
A salutary reminder that good food is largely about the quality of the ingredients, intelligent use of them and judicious seasoning.
One of the most enjoyable breakfasts in Paris ever.
