Pascal Simonutti of Domaine du Pré Noir hails from the Loire Valley near the town of Mesland. Here he crafts wonderful wines from the notoriously difficult grape variety Pineau d'Aunis. His 100% Pineau d'Aunis Vin de Table which weighs in at a mere 12% alcohol is fresh, vibrant and compelling drinking. Look for the 'scribbled' orange label.
All of his wines have quirky names and equally quirky labels such as his Boire Tue (Drink kills) made from 60% Gamay and 40% Pineau d'Aunis.
