Fook Seng Goldenhill Chicken Rice in our opinion serves the best chicken rice in Singapore. The succulent chicken is cooked perfectly every time. Even the breast meat is juicy and tender.
Jalan Rumah Tinggi is not in the centre of town but it is only a ten minute taxi ride from Chinatown so it is relatively easy to access.
It is certainly worth the ride to sample dishes such as chicken rice, superior chicken rice or premium chicken rice which are variations depending on which type of cut you prefer (thigh, drumstick or breast meat). You can also order half a chicken or a whole chicken which come with a choice of livers or gizzards on the side.
There are also some other dishes available such as bok choy or kai lan served with a home made oyster sauce or raw fish served with shallot and sesame oil, soy sauce, shredded ginger, chilli and lime.
The food is prepared by chef Ronnie Chew who operates the restaurant with his wife Sally. They prepare the chicken in the style of Hainan chicken but call it Singapore Chicken Rice because they believe that it is now an authentically Singaporean dish.
