Terret is a grape variety that is popular in southern France, particularly in the Languedoc. In its red manifestation (it is also found as a white grape and a 'grey' grape) it is one of the permitted varieties in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
It is said to add some structure to red wines when used judiciously.
