Le Ballon Rouge is a fascinating wine shop in the historic town of Uzes in France. Make sure you explore all the cellars as there are treasures, both old and new, around every corner. When we entered this seemingly uninteresting store the proprietor was anxious that we descend the steep stairs to the cellar. Once we did we could see why. Room after room was lined with treasures old and new. In one corner of the cave behind the stairs we spied some bottles of Silex by the late Didier Dageaneau. In another corner we found some of Xavier Reverchon's Les Trouillots Cotes du Jura. In another were some bottles of the Domaine Tempier La Migoua Bandol. And behind a locked wire grill there were dozens of Meursault, Gevry-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny offerings. There were even a few Romanee-Conti!We could spend hours in this special shop!
