We have always enjoyed Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, but a meal at the beginning of 2007 was particularly memorable due to the assured cooking of chef Robert Marchetti who is confident enough about his work to present food simply and let the produce do the talking.
Sitting at a window table on a day when the sun was shining and the wind was whipping up the breakers below us was a breathtaking experience!
We always enjoy the dining experience in Mauritio Terzini's restaurants because he understands service better than most in the industry. Rarely are their any service glitches and rarely do you feel you are being treated with lesser attention that the stellar cast of diners he attracts to his venues.
But we go mainly for the food and the food here is very good. Sea scallops wrapped in pancetta sitting on black turtle beans with a mint and chilli dressing is typical of the style of food served here.
Most people seem to order the simply-presented salt crusted bistecca that is a hallmark of the establishment or the charcoal grilled whole snapper that is emblematic of seaside dining in Sydney.
We thoroughly enjoyed a complex dessert of almond milk pannacotta served with prunes soaked in a dark alluring pedro ximinez. We also enjoyed finishing the meal with a great Marc from Jean Boyer who is better known for producing one of the best Pastis in France. The coffee is also very, very good.
So, this is a must-visit place. It is a complete package of stunning ambience, great service and very interesting food.
