Arnaud's is a relative newcomer on the New Orleans Creole dining scene having only been around since 1918.
We visited here to see how it compared with Galatoire's. Like Galatoire's, we weren't expecting great food - rather we went to observe the traditions.
This place is bigger. They have tiled floors and ceiling fans (just the same as Galatoire's). They have the same type of waiting style. They have the same style of food.
The big difference is that at Galatoire's the dish is called Shrimp Remoulade, here it is called Shrimp Arnaud! Oh - they do have the lovely soufflé potatoes though.
If you desperately feel the need to visit one of the classic New Orleans restaurants then simply toss a coin to decide whether it should be Galatoire's or Arnaud's or Antoine's - but don't go with high expectations of the quality of the food. Just go to soak up the atmosphere.
