Chaume is a small appellation within the Coteaux du Layon appellation in the Loire Valley that was granted its own appellation due to the quality of the wine produced here.
The official title of this appellation is Chaume Premier Cru Coteaux du Layon and was only created in 2003. The wines are made entirely from the Chenin Blanc grape and are produced with varying levels of sweetness.
