Frogmore Creek is situated just north of Cambridge on the gentle, sunny slopes leading down to the Pittwater estuary.
Here is a vineyard on a stellar trajectory. It only took one sip of the now famous Frogmore Creek 2002 Reserve Pinot to convince us that here was a very special vineyard.
Tony Scherer is no stranger to organic production. His association with organic techniques began in California in the nineteen seventies when he began growing fruit and vegetables for the emerging stars of the restaurant scene such as Chez Panisse and Greens.
His wines are made by Andrew Hood. We also like the chardonnay a lot. They don't fall into the trap of many Australian wine makers of producing those huge buttery monsters that have gone through secondary fermentation. Rather, their wines are clean, austere and made to last rather than seeking instant gratification. And the same goes for their riesling. It is steely and tight and will need ten years to realise its full potential.
Their wine is certified by the BFA.
We also like their Cuvee Evermore Sparkling wine, their riesling and their Iced Riesling dessert wine
