Domaine A is the fruit of the labours of Peter and Ruth Althaus who moved from Switzerland to buy the former Stoney Vineyard in the Coal Valley.
Their passion for excellence soon became apparent to locals who saw the vineyard being transformed and the quality of the wines increasing year by year.
The Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon is a lovely example of this type of wine. It is only produced in the years when Peter thinks it will meet his exacting standards. Those people who make sweeping statements about how Tasmania is too far south for cabernet grapes to ripen properly need only look to this elegant, polished wine to see that there is no hint of unripe grape here.
Also look for the Lady A which is one of the best examples of a French-style Sauvignon Blanc that you will find outside the Loire Valley.
