As you head towards the must-visit Kitchen Arts and Letters bookstore on the upper east side it is compulsory to drop in to Payard Patisserie (partly owned by the talented Daniel Boulud) to sample the stunning array of pastries and the beautiful chocolates. Take the time to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee as this really is a very special place. If you have foodie friends back home buy them a box of the chocolates - it will make them insanely jealous!
