Le Pigeoulet de Brunier and the Le Pigeolet en Provence Vin de Pays de Vaucluse might 'only' be classified as a Vin de Pays de Vaucluse but it is a serious wine by a serious winemaker. In fact none less than Daniel Brunier the man behind the revered Chateauneuf-du-Pape producer Vieux Telegraphe. The grapes are from vines that grow around the village of Caromb in Vaucluse which lies on the lower slopes of Mont Ventoux. (The village is dear to our hearts as we have a house there as a base for our food and wine learnings.)The wine shows some complexity, perhaps from the small quantities of Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon that are added to the dominant Grenache. It is yet another example of wines from this area that represent excellent value for money.
