The Cambiata Albarino is a luscious white wine made from the grape that is more commonly associated with the Rias Baixas region of Spain rather than California.
The Cambiata winery is the domain of Eric Laumann who is the wine maker for the Monterey Wine Company. He makes wines from two grapes that are well known in Europe but not so common in the United States, namely Albarino and the dark, brooding, highly tannic Tannat that is the pride of the Madiran area of South West France.
The Albarino has the characteristic splashes of green showing through the pale yellow wine. It has a perfect acid backbone with citrus flavours veering towards stone fruit. It has a long, dry finish.
We also think that the label is quite elegant!
