Haut-Poitou is a wine appellation in the Loire region of France on the southern fringes of the Loire Valley just north of the city of Poitiers.
A handful of good vignerons produce interesting white wines from the Sauvignon blanc grape with Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Pinot blanc also being permitted.
Reds and roses are made from Pinot Noir, Gamay, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grolleau and Cabernet Franc.
Look for wines made by Frédéric Brochet.
