Domaine Saint Nicolas is a biodynamic estate in the appellation Fiefs Vendeens which lies on the Atlantic Coast south of Angers and the Loire River. Here Thierry Michon crafts beautiful wines from his low-yield vines using natural methods.
All of his wines are favourites so it is difficult to single any out, however his entry level white (Les Clous) made from Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Grolleau Gris is a perfect wine for seafood and his complex entry level red made from Pinot Noir, Gamay, Cabernet Franc and Negrette also expresses the region beautifully.
But it is also worth exploring some of the more expensive offerings such as the Le Haut des Clous which is a 100% Chenin Blanc wine or the unusual Le Poire which is made from 100% Negrette.
