The Quinta do Ameal Loureiro is a lovely white wine that shows how Portugal is capable of matching it with their cousins in the Rias Baixas region over the border when it comes to the production of delectable whites.
This wine is a Vinho Verde DOC from the Ponte de Lima sub-region and is made from 100% Loureiro grapes weighing in at just 11.5% alcohol, a perfect level for summer drinking.
However, by proposing summer drinking we don't want to give the impression that this is a frivolous wine. On the contrary, it is a very well made wine with very good structure, very good fruit flavours (that start from the reduced yield in the vineyard) and perfect acidity.
