A yamamomo is a fruit from Japan known as the Mountain Peach. It is about the size of a cherry or strawberry - in fact it looks a bit like a berry. It has both an underlying sweetness as well as a backbone of acidity that makes it very refreshing to eat.
Yamamomo is often found in dishes at the Nobu chain of restaurants where it is used as a palate cleanser to accompany tuna tartare with caviar.
