The Grgich Hills Estate Grown Fume Blanc is a full-bodied, luscious white wine from the Napa Valley that exhibits citrus aromas and a mineral streak on the palate. It has a fleshy, full mouth-feel and a long, lingering finish.
It is reasonably powerful for a white wine weighing in at over 14% alcohol!
The term fume blanc is one widely used in California to describe wines made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape. The term derives from the appellation Pouilly-Fume in the Loire Valley where some of the better dry wines using the Sauvignon Blanc grape are made.
