Pho Dzung in Richmond is an institution in Melbourne for really good beef or chicken pho. The ingredients are of a high quality, the service is efficient and the end result very consistent.
One of our biggest surprises in recent times is the fact that this venerable establishment has moved! Not far mind you. In fact only half a dozen doors along bustling Victoria Street. But after going there for so long it did take some adjusting.
However, the fact that the place has doubled in size does not seem to have had the slightest effect on the quality of the food, and, out of all the offshoots of this chain, the Richmond outlet is still our favourite.
Don't worry if it looks busy here. Just wait for ten minutes and you will be assured of a seat.
There are only two dishes to order. You can have beef pho or chicken pho. Wimps have the 'outside' bits, but hardier folk have the beef or chicken special which consists of 'inside' bits such as gizzards, livers, tendons, blood and so on. No matter what you order you will marvel at the wonderful flavour of the silky, freshly made noodles and the deeply flavoured stock. Pho Dzung is well-worth a visit.
