Auberge de la Loube is high in the hills of the Luberon, where, after some twisting hairpin bends from Bonnieux you come upon the hameau of Buoux. Tucked beside the winding road, this comforting venue has a lovely terrace outside with views over the Luberon hills.
However it is also a great place to visit in winter sitting in the comfortable dining room in front of a roaring fire.
Auberge de la Loube is where we have the giant hors d'oeuvre called grande aioli. The staff bring to the table trays of plates filled with 17 small dishes including quail eggs, beetroot, cauliflower, octopus, eggplant, artichokes, confit onions, lentils, chickpeas, tiny tomatoes and much more. After you work your way through the grand aioli make sure you still have room for one of the main dishes for which they are equally famous such as lamb or the superb broufade de taureau.
We accompnaied our last meal here with a bottle of the local Chateau la Canorgue Cotes du Luberon Rose Earl Mangan in the distinctive blue bottle.
