Sitting on the terrace of La Casa Musicale in the picture-postcard hill top village of Pigna is one of those rare treats that has to be experienced to be believed. You come here for serenity, for great music, for stylish accommodation and for great food and wine.
Whether you choose a simple salad, the charcuterie for which the island is famous, or the spaghetti with local boutargue or the stunning carpaccio of beef served on roquete with the most wonderful aigre douce sauce your meal will be memorable. Local wines such as those from nearby Clos Culombu are also featured.
We worried about recommending somewhere as obscure as this. It is in an ancient, tiny village in the mountians of Corsica. Driving is difficult on this island. However, Pigna is relatively accessible.
But we became entranced by this location and the food served here. Maybe it’s the contrast between the white-knuckle driving experience compared with the calm and serenity once you enter the pedestrian-only village or maybe it is the stunning view across to the coast or maybe our memory of a perfect sweet and sour sauce on a carparccio that makes us want to recommend La Casa Musicale.
