Arbois wine appellation

Arbois is a wine appellation in the Cotes du Jura region of France based around the village of Arbois. Here you will find red wines made from Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard and white wines based on Savagnin and some Chardonnay.

There are also two special types of wine produced here that are worth seeking out. They are vin jaunes (yellow wines) which are fermented for a minimum of six years and three months protected by a crust of yeast and vin de paille which is produced from grapes dried on straw before being allowed to ferment.

Look for wines from some of the Jura stars such as Philippe Bornard, Jean-Francois Ganevat and Michel Gahier.
