E'cco Bistro is a lively, noisy restaurant on a busy corner opposite a number of waterfront apartment developments in the city centre which shows the way in this vibrant city.
E'cco has for many years shown the way for Brisbane restaurants. We usually have difficulty getting a table here, in fact, the last two visits we have made to Brisbane have resulted in declined bookings!
We started one meal with steamed mussels, saffron, chilli, ginger and coriander. It was very good. A salad of veal shank with whole roast garlic, beetroot and red wine vinegar was also excellent and very reasonably priced.
The other dish we remember was a double cutlet of lamb with braised peppers, caramelised onions and white bean crostini served with a side dish of rocket, parmesan and balsamic vinegar. The balsamic was not too strong - great!
Altogether a very good food experience despite the noise from other diners.
At a meal in January 2000 we started with a lovely wedge of goats cheese tart that was served with a well-dressed salad of rocket and pear slices. Our other starter was sauteed cuttlefish with chilli tomato chutney. Both dishes were pleasant without soaring to great heights, with the cuttlefish dish looking quite messy, but with a good underlying flavour.
Main courses of young chicken with pink eye potatoes and baked barramundi with a parmesan crust were both very good. But, once again, nothing spectacular.
