This is a very comfortable and relaxing foodie haven in the Hotel Port Royal in the 6th arrondissement. The red and black décor and the absence of traditional restaurant seating reflect Robuchon's long association with all things Japanese.
The bar with its high-backed stools gives all diners a good view into the kitchen where you can see the young, highly-focussed chefs preparing the food for you.
The menu lists over 20 small dishes and a similar number of traditional main dishes. Sampling a range of small dishes (three or four per person) provides a very satisfying lunch.
Dishes such as fresh anchovies on eggplant confit, fresh foie gras, coddled eggs with morels and the finest possible tart topped with mackerel and parmesan are the type of dish you can expect to be served.
We find the service to be professional, knowledgeable and helpful and the results on the plate are as good as in many of the three star restaurants in Paris. And, of course, you can sample the famous Robuchon mashed potatoes as part of your meal. What a bonus!
