The Farm Shed is the new venture for Subi Mead and Helen Bain (formerly of The Left Bank in Swansea) who are still on the East Coast but this time in a purpose-built building in Bicheno. The food here is light and packed with flavour and the drinks options pay respect to local suppliers.
You can drop in here for breakfast with options such as granola served with Tasmanian yoghurt and fruit or a toasted panini with bacon jam and cheese, for example which you can enjoy with a coffee from Zimmah Coffee in Hobart. After 11am the menu broadens to include croquetta (ham and cheese or mushroom and cheese), meatballs, soft tacos with either a meat filling or a bean filling plus much more.
We really enjoyed a ceviche which was made from fresh scallops on the day we were there and we also had a lamb taco and the bean taco which were both incredibly tasty.
The wine program here highlights the wines of the local area with informative displays for each of the suppliers. We enjoyed a Sauvignon Blanc from Priory Ridge because it does not have any added sulphites, therfore retaining a crisp freshness.
We look forward to future visits.
