The Harvest Vine is one of our favourite restaurants in Seattle! Situated in the leafy area around East Madison, this restaurant rates as one of the best venues for classic Spanish-inspired food outside of Spain. At our first meal here we started with a lovely Morgadio Albarino from the Rias Baixas region of Spain which was served in a traditional copa. All the food was lovely from the Galician-style octopus served with potato to the plate of jamon to the wonderful desserts prepared on the premises. The Boquerones en Vinagre (cured white anchovies) were some of the best we have tasted. On our next visit to Seattle we couldn't wait to get back to The Harvest Vine and we were glad we did because we loved it even more. This is a very special place and Seattle is lucky to have such a treasure in its midst. On this occasion we tried the wonderful Serrano ham again teamed with crusty bread. We were very impressed with the Ensalada de Berros which was served on an attractive square white plate. Slices of beautifully cooked, waxy red-skinned potatoes sat underneath a mound of very fresh watercress which was topped with pimento dusted hard boiled egg. The dish was studded with a flavour-packed white anchovy dressing. Then followed two very special dishes! The first was Espinacas a la Catalana which was spinach quickly reduced in a frying pan lined with some sherry in which golden raisins and pine nuts had been gently heated. The combination of flavours was perfect. And then along came half a wolf fish head! It was huge! It was started in a fry pan and then roasted in the oven. The texture of the fish was amazing reminding us of skate. Why more restaurants don't serve fish heads is a puzzle as they are the most flavourful part of the fish.A dish of a creamy al-dente rice pudding dusted with cinnamon was a lovely companion for a glass of the luscious Molino Real Moscotel and brought the meal to a fitting conclusion. The Harvest Vine is wonderful restaurant, with wonderful food, great wine and caring service.
