Companion Bakery is a true artisanal bakery using an Alan Scott wood-fired oven and traditional bread-making techniques and pure, organic products to fashion their delightful breads.
Their breads are left to rise naturally - no commercial yeast or any of those unnecessary 'improvers' are used. Their breads have a dense, dark crust with a delightful aftertaste which we find very appealing.
There is a bread-making renaissance at hand in Tasmania with small producers of traditional breads popping up throughout the state and the emergence of Companion adds to the richness of the bread-making culture especially given that Graham Prichard, the baker, conducts lessons both at his bakery and at the Agrarian Kitchen.
