Fresh on Charles is one of the most interesting and innovative cafes in Tasmania. It always has great coffee, interesting vegetarian food and service that matches the vibe of the café.This is our café of choice for atmosphere in Launceston. It is one of the two places we choose for breakfast (Tant pour Tant is the other).We normally start our breakfast with a tumbler of fruit juice such as apple, ginger and carrot which is prepared to order - you can order any combination of about six fruit and vegetable selections. We then have a strong coffee while waiting for our lemony couscous porridge served with toasted almonds, dates and banana or poached eggs on toast or sometimes a dish of baked eggs with chilli beans and spinach served with flatbread.Lunch and dinner follow a similar theme with tasty vegetarian offerings that are very satisfying such as a spicy broth with wontons and green tea noodles or grilled polenta with seared lemon fetta and a small salad or chilli beans with corn bread and avocado salsa. All dishes are very reasonably priced.
