Alps and Amici is a converted, existing shop in East Launceston run by Daniel and Sally Alps and Ken Latona and Sabrina Pirie. It looks stylish and the range of foods on offer is impressive and well-chosen.We like the fact that the vegetables are not refrigerated but, instead, displayed in wooden wine boxes with extremely good provenance. Onions in a Sassaccia box! Tomatoes from the Vieux Telegraphe container? There is a small but interesting selection of Tasmanian wines and beers and some of the iconic food products from Tasmania such as the Lentara olive oil that was used by Daniel Alps at his former restaurant in the Tamar Valley. There is a large, open kitchen where the busy chefs prepare food for you to take home such as Turmeric Chicken, Bolognese Sauce or Bullfighter Stew.
