With its floor to ceiling windows, concrete floors comfortable couches interspersed with marble-topped tables, and big white plates, KuppA could just as easily be tucked in a Melbourne laneway or somewhere off Market St in San Francisco. If the urge for a decent cup of coffee gets to you (the beans are roasted in house) and you feel the need for lounging around with a good magazine, as you might at home, then KuppA is as good as it gets. The menu runs the full gambit with a number of good Thai dishes and pretty much everything else as well, including beef from Australia or the USA, duck confit, sandwiches, salads, seafood, and a seemingly endless selection of cakes. KuppA is a 20 minute walk from the nearest SkyTrain station (Asoke) although many of the locals who frequent here (including more than a few expats) drive and take advantage of the valet parking. Alternatively, take a taxi. It's worth consulting a street map before you leave though. The street is not quite where you might expect it to be. Sukhumvit Soi 16 runs off Ratchadaphisek not directly off Sukhumvit.KuppA, like a number of Bangkok eateries, has an art gallery as well. There is also a new outlet on the top floor of the trendy Playground! Concept store in Sukhumvit Soi 55 which is open from 10am to 10pm daily.
