Located just outside the ramparts of this well-preserved, ancient town, this four star establishment is the perfect place to locate yourself while you are exploring the wonders of the Burgundy region. All of the Grand Cru vineyards are within 20 minutes of the hotel by car and the very centre of Beaune itself is but a two minute walk. It also only takes two or three minutes to walk to the famous Hospice de Beaune.
Our rooms were small (a very European tradition) but perfectly adequate as we intended to spend every waking minute exploring the vineyards. The plumbing is good and the showers excellent. You can even watch CNN if you are bored or homesick!
Downstairs there is a nice, comfortable piano bar where we shared a bottle of local wine with some friends that we had unexpectedly run into in the street. There is also a cellar stocked with an excellent range of Burgundian wines and a billiard room to while away the time.
The restaurant is well-regarded and is probably a good place to eat. Despite the wealth of the area and the number of tourists who flock here, we were surprised that there we not more good restaurants in the town.
The service here is excellent - they really want to help. Nothing is to much trouble.
