Rio Mar is one of the unsung gems of New Orleans. This is not a classy restaurant with lots of antiques and dinner jacketed waiting staff, but it does serve very fresh seafood with a Spanish influence.Nestled in the emerging warehouse district not too far from most of the major hotels, this is the place to go for very serious ceviche (some of the best we have ever had) and beautiful whole fish cooked to perfection. There are a number of versions of the ceviche including Peruvian and Panamanian or you can try all of them on a tasting plate. We also particularly like the serrano ham wrapped yellowfin tuna served with Romesco sauce.We would recommend the lovely Lusco Albariño from the Rias Baixas area of Spain to accompany the seafood served here.
