Wild Café Restaurant in Penguin is a pleasant spot to stop for lunch, coffee or an evening meal in the heart of the North West Coast. The café and enclosed 'outside' area have lovely views over Bass Strait.One hallmark of this restaurant is the consistently good service. Staff are always anxious to assist and keep a close eye on all tables.The menu is quite extensive and many of the dishes have Asian influences. We have enjoyed a red curry fish and bean cakes with cucumber relish and salad and a dish of fennel, basil and goats cheese dumplings with pickled beetroot, lemon oil and salad leaves. On another visit a Vietnamese lemongrass beef salad with a coconut pancake and chilli jam was very good as well. For dessert we particularly liked a fig pudding with butterscotch sauce and fig ginger compote.The wine list includes many good wines from Tasmania.
