Green Leaf is a new exciting restaurant in Seattle's International District. It is exciting because the food is cooked with skill and the flavours are true to its origins.
People are already flocking here for the wonderful Banh Xeo - a crepe made from coconut milk and flour is cooked quickly until crisp and then wrapped around shrimps and bean shoots. This is served with a plate of lettuce leaves and herbs that are used to wrap pieces of the crepe. The result when doused with a little fish sauce is a delightful mixture of textures and flavours.
They also serve wonderful bowls of steaming pho here. We like the Pho Dac Biet that combines rare brisket, tendons, tripe and springy meatballs.
The restaurant is quite small so you may have to wait during busy periods.
