In the space formerly occupied by Seize au Seize in Paris' 16th, this is the latest venture of master chef Joel Robuchon. You could think of it as L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, but sitting at tables!
You are served very similar small portion dishes but the ambience is more like a full-on restaurant and the service is more formal than at L'Atelier.
We loved the food - a complimentary silken gazpacho arrived immediately after we placed our order - it was beautiful, but it was a pity no-one mentioned this as we had already ordered gazpacho as one of our dishes! A crab and avocado dish arrived in a delightful china egg sitting on a slab of stone offset by a vibrant red spoon. At the bottom of the egg was a creamy avocado mixture topped with an acidulated jelly and some lovely fresh crab. The second serving of gazpacho arrived toped with some of the freshest almonds we had ever tried.
However, we also thought that the food fell a little short of the excellence we revelled in earlier in the year at L'Atelier.
Having said that - it is still worth a visit to experience the excellence of the guiding hand of one of France's greatest chefs.
