Books for Cooks is one of our favourite places for locating both popular and obscure cook books. It is set in the emerging Gertrude Street precinct which is home to Brigitte Hafner's wonderful Enoteca and Ladro which is a very good pizza restaurant.

On our most recent trip here we struggled in holding a number of bottles of Rhone wine that we had bought next door at the Enoteca. We found Margaret Shaida's seminal book about Persian cuisine along with a number of other favourites that we bought and then packed into our shoulder bags.

A great place in a wonderful food precinct! It should be a compulsory stop for all food lovers visiting or living in Melbourne.
